Lost Essential Quality: Perfection.
 
Compensating Belief: I must gain worthiness and love through being good and perfecting my self.
 
Attention/Coping Strategy: Noticing and correcting error; Comparing self to others; Suppressing anger and impulses; Being responsible and "right".
 
Trap: Endless trying to gain worthiness by being correct.
 
Driving Energy: Anger, Resentment.
 
Avoidance: Making mistakes, Losing self control.
 
Strengths: High integrity, Concern for improvement, Industrious, Responsible.
 
Paradox: There are multiple right answers. What is 'right' is not necessarily best.
 
Path of Development
Understand that correctness and rightness are not part of natural order.
Compassion for the self.
Recognize and minimize the internal critical voice.
Allow free time, relaxation.
 
Ultimate Task: Reclaiming the sense of perfection in all things and everyone which includes accepting differences, mistakes, and natural desires.
 
The following simple practices will assist the development of Type Ones.
It may be useful to record your reactions.
  1. For the next week, pay particular attention to the dominance of the inner critical voice and its incessant demands.
  2. Make a conscious effort to minimize the impact of the critical voice by accepting errors and mistakes as a natural part of life.
  3. At the end of each day, reflect on how compassion and forgiveness are the keys to true perfection.
