Lost Essential Quality:  Original Connection.
 
Compensating Belief:  I am deficient.  Something really important is missing which must be gained.
 
Attention/Copying Strategy: Intense feelings of longing and sadness for what is missing.  Searching for ideal love and circumstances.
 
Trap: Obtaining the special, ultimate love or situation will make me whole and complete.
 
Driving Energy: Envy and longing.
 
Avoidance: Being ordinary, deficient.
 
Strengths: Creative disposition, Passion, Empathy, Emotional Depth.
 
Paradox: wanting what is missing perpetuates dissatisfaction with what is present.
 
Path of Development
 Focus on what is positive in the present.
Recognize that feelings are not the only reality.
Appreciate the ordinary.
Be consistent in action despite fluctuation and intense feelings.
 
Ultimate Task: Reclaiming wholeness in the present by appreciating what is here and now and accepting yourself  completely, separate from what is special and unique.
 
The following simple practices will assist the development of Type Ones.
It may be useful to record your reactions.
  1. For the next week, pay particular attention to what is positive and meaningful in the ordinary flow of life.
  2. Make a conscious effort to stay in the present moment with what is actually happening despite powerful fluctuating feelings.
  3. At the end of each day, reflect on how wholeness and satisfaction come from fully experiencing what is taking place in the here and now.
